My husband and I rented Casa Ferenandez for 5 days to accommodate our family and friends and hold our dream wedding reception in Cartagena. We fell in love with the the colonial architecture of the house, and it was amazing to witness the house come alive as it was being decorated for our special day. Our guest also loved socializing in the courtyard and lounging by the pool. We had half our party traveling from the U.S. and the other half from Bogota, and it was perfect for our needs and budget.

Location: Casa Fernandez is perfectly located in the historic walled city, close to beautiful boutique shops and tasty restaurants. We loved that we could easily walk to Barrio Getsemani, the Clock Tower for Chiva (tour/party bus) pick-up/drop-off, and the pier for beach excursions. It’s especially convenient for wedding parties, that the house is just a 2-3 minute walk to the Church of Santo Domingo.

Safety: Those in our party who were initially concerned about safety in Cartagena, found themselves comfortable and able to self navigate the city. There are solicitors surrounding Plaza Santo Domingo, but we always felt especially safe in the house. There’s a guard on duty 24/7 to let guests in and keep random strangers out, and no valuables or belongings went missing. 

Staff: The house was well staffed, kind, and very attentive—we felt like royalty. Even the guard went above and beyond and cleaned debris from the pool for us, sometimes at 3AM. We had breakfast prepared every morning and occasionally lunch, and never once did we have a bad meal. If anything was lost or we were in need of anything—even after having checked out—they were available for advice or to help us locate items left behind. Ines was also very attentive and made sure that the rooms were properly situated to accommodate our needs and guests. She was always quick to reply to any questions we had regarding the property, and it is was exciting to receive inpirational photos from other weddings that took place at Casa Fernandez. We are very happy we chose Casa Fernandez.
