A magnificent Roman palazzo, combining Italian- and French-style decoration and furnishings. The lobby is decked out with Murano chandeliers, columns, marble busts, and cherubs. HOTEL SCALINATA DI SPAGNA

This is Rome's most famous little boutique hotel. The deluxe Hassler is across the street but far removed in price and grandeur from this intimate, upscale B&B at the top of the Spanish Steps. This delightful little building -- only two floors are visible from the outside -- is nestled between much larger structures, with four relief columns across the facade and window boxes with bright blossoms.
